Delta Innovative Services, in collaboration with DB2 Services, completed a comprehensive roof transformation at Northeast Middle School, a historic building in the Kansas City Public School district nearly a century old. The 68,600-square-foot roof had exceeded its lifespan, last replaced in the mid-90s. This roof repair project was part of KCPS’ initiative to modernize and maintain key infrastructure.

• Historical Infrastructure: The age of the building required specialized techniques to ensure compatibility with the existing structure.
• Minimizing Disruptions: The installation was primarily conducted outside school hours to avoid disruptions to students and staff.
• Experienced Team: Delta’s current leadership had previously worked on the school’s roofing system in the 90s, providing valuable insight into this project.

1. Priming the existing vapor barrier.
2. Installing two layers of 1.7” insulation with hot asphalt.
3. Applying tapered insulation to the newer wing for a seamless connection to the original structure.
4. Securing a ¼” Securock coverboard using hot asphalt for additional reinforcement.

Installing a two-ply GAF Ruberoid system – one ply of Ruberoid 20 and one ply of Ruberoid 30FR, both adhered with hot asphalt.

Project Completion & Results
