Delta Innovative Services completed a comprehensive roof replacement at The Shops of Prairie Village, a busy retail hub requiring strategic planning to minimize disruptions. The project included structural steel work and the installation of a new Soprema PVC roofing system to enhance durability and weather resistance.
Challenges
Working on an active shopping center presented key challenges that required precision and coordination:
- Public Access: Heavy foot and vehicle traffic required careful planning to maintain safe customer access.
- Structural Steel Work: Welding was necessary for steel supports, demanding compliance with city codes and precise execution.
- Weather Protection: Daily construction steps were planned to ensure the building remained dry in case of rain.
Roofing System Installation
Delta Innovative Services installed a high-performance Soprema PVC roofing system, designed for superior protection and efficiency. The system included:
- Two layers of 2” insulation for thermal resistance.
- ½” per foot crickets for enhanced drainage.
- ½” coverboard for structural reinforcement.
- Soprema Stick SA sheet for improved adhesion.
- 60 mil fleece-back PVC membrane, fully adhered for long-term durability.
- New sheet metal flashing, gutters, and downspouts for proper water management.
Early Project Completion
Delta’s team worked efficiently, completing the most complex roof section—above Minsky’s Pizza—in just 2.5 days instead of the scheduled 5 days. Our in-house certified welders ensured all steel reinforcements met city codes, demonstrating our expertise in handling structural challenges.
